Oak Park police made arrests in response to three violent domestic incidents over the weekend, according to police activity reports.
Police arrested two Chicago men and one Oak Park woman on charges of felony domestic battery in connection with separate incidents. All of the charges stem from reported attacks on Oak Park residents, according to the police reports.
Police arrested a 22-year-old Chicago man on a charge of domestic battery in connection with an alleged attack in the 200 block of Chicago Avenue at 1:35 p.m. Friday, May 2.
Police arrested a 30-year-old Chicago man on a charge of domestic battery in connection with an incident in the 900 block of North Boulevard in the village at 6:23 a.m. Sunday, May 4.
Police arrested a 55-year-old Oak Park woman on charges of domestic battery in response to an incident in the 700 block of Austin Boulevard shortly after 1:40 p.m. Sunday, May 4.
All of the suspects were held in village custody until bond hearings, according to the police reports.
Battery of police officer
Oak Park police arrested a 56-year-old Bellwood woman on battery charges for an alleged attack on an Oak Park officer shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 30. The incident occurred in the 1100 block of South Boulevard in the village, according to police.
Car theft
A person from the Village of Franklin Park reported to police that their 2022 Kia Sportage was stolen from the 300 block of North Scoville Avenue in Oak Park shortly before noon on Friday, May 2. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a man enter the vehicle and drive east on Erie Street while a black sedan containing multiple male passengers followed closely behind, according to police.
The vehicle was reportedly valued at $25,000, according to police.
The vehicle was later found in the 300 block of East Lower Wacker Drive in Downtown Chicago, but no apprehensions have been made in connection with the case, according to the police reports.
Police are also investigating a report of a 2018 Nissan Maxima being stolen from the 100 block of North Kenilworth Avenue on April 25. The vehicle is reportedly worth $18,000, according to police.
Retail theft
Oak Park police are investigating a report of a man shoplifting a number of items worth more than $1,600 in total from a big-box store in the 1100 block of Lake Street shortly before 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 1. The man reportedly loaded items into a backpack and a garbage bag before leaving the store without paying, according to police.
Police also received a report of a man and a woman shoplifting more than $700 in products from a drug store in the 6400 block of Roosevelt Road in the village, according to police.
These items were obtained from Oak Park Police Department reports dated April 30-May 5 and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated.
