
Peter Allen Cantwell, 76, of River Forest, died on April 21, 2026. Born in Oak Park on Feb. 9, 1950 to Frank Cantwell and Clotilda Allen Cantwell, he is an alumnus of River Forest primary schools, Culver Military Academy, Washington University, where he was an active member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, graduating with honors and going on to Washington University Law School where he obtained his Juris Doctorate. He had a distinguished law practice at a firm he was enormously proud of, Cantwell and Cantwell, first established by his grandfather in 1896. He was a loyal fan of and had treasured season tickets to the Black Hawks. He was known for his sense of humor, pulling practical jokes on family and friends, and he dedicated his life to serving others with skill and compassion.
Peter was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara. He is survived by his brother, Frank, and sister, Clotilda (Chuck) Cantwell-Taylor; his sister-in-law, Diana (Michael) Prime, his Aunt Evelyn Allen, and many cousins and dear friends. His family will always remember Peter for his wit, wisdom and zest for life.
Services will be held privately, arrangements handled by Peter B. Kennedy & Co., Funeral Directors.
