In addition to Michael Mitchell Jr.’s letter, “Pay more, get less?” [Viewpoints, March 25], I would like to share the history of service charges. In 2021, the village began charging $15 quarterly. This continued for four years at the same quarterly rate. Then in 2025, the service charge increased to $18, a 20% increase. One year later, the service chargedoubled to $36, a 100% increase. Upon calling public works, the lady responded that she really didn’t know what the service charges were for. So now we pay the village to send us a bill telling us what we owe for water, sewer, and refuse? Yes, we are paying more and for what?!
