Our first Forest Park St Patrick’s Day Parade couldn’t have come at a better time. Warm(er) than the brutal winter, neighbors and friends on the street, happy to have a little community after four months of hibernation. The kids were ready to hunt down each and every person handing out candy. What the kids weren’t ready for, however, was the opening salvo of fire truck horns and police car sirens. I think they outfitted a garbage truck with a boat horn? At least one family we were around with a very young child had to leave to try to settle the baby. Can we look toward 2027 and perhaps limit the decibels? Or let the folks handing out candy also hand out ear plugs. At least O’Sullivan’s got a bit extra business out of me that day.
