Months after returning to the bargaining table, River Forest School District 90 and the River Forest Education Association have come to terms on a new tentative four-year teacher contract agreement.
The agreement, struck Friday, must now be ratified by RFEA membership and approved by the District 90 board of education, according to a district statement Saturday. Terms of the agreement were not released.
In a joint statement from RFEA co-presidents Cindy Crannell and Lauren Ortiz, and district superintendent Dr. Edward Condon, “We are pleased to have reached a new tentative agreement through the collaborative efforts of the negotiation teams and are grateful to the school community for your ongoing patience during the negotiation process.”
The district and RFEA had come to a tentative agreement on a new contract Nov. 10 but it was voted down by RFEA membership. Since then, the parties met several times, including “sidebar” sessions with a mediator. A sidebar negotiation session involves a small group from the full negotiation teams and is used to explore possible compromises ahead of a formal proposal or response.
This is a developing story. More details to come.
