Call the main phone line to West Suburban Medical Center and the recorded message says, “The number you have reached is out of service.” That’s been the message since at least Sunday afternoon.

A visit to the Oak Park and the River Forest campuses of the hospital on Tuesday brought mixed and very limited answers. At two specialty medical offices at the Lake Street campus front desk people said they had no phone service for parts of Monday but that it was back in service on Tuesday.

ER reception staff at the Austin Blvd. campus said their phones were working but acknowledged they were talking about using phones for internal communication within the hospital. Another staff person said wider problems with phone service were not being shared with staff.

Reception staff in the main hospital lobby said a reporter would need to talk to administration. When a member of the administrative staff came to the lobby they declined to identify themselves and when asked if a reporter could talk to Dr. Manoj Prasad, the CEO, they were told Prasad was “indisposed.” A written message was taken for the CEO.

As reported by Wednesday Journal, financial and cash flow problems at the hospital have resulted in lawsuits being filed by vendors against Resilience Healthcare.
