The Fenwick girls golf team took second place at the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference tournament held at White Pines Golf Club in Bensenville, Sept. 25. The Friars’ score of 354 was 25 strokes behind champion Loyola Academy.
Junior Mairin Sweeney led a trio of Fenwick golfers who finished in the top 10 individually. Sweeney finished fourth with a round of 84. Senior Maddy Cox shot an 85 to place seventh while her twin sister Kate took 10th with an 88. The Cox sisters, along with Sweeney, earned All-GCAC honors.
Sophomores Lila Gaddipati (22nd, 97) and Madeline Roginski (36th, 102) and junior Noel Gallery (41st, 105) completed the lineup. The Friars took part in the IHSA Class 2A St. Ignatius Regional, Oct. 1, after press time.
Trinity finished 13th at the GCAC tournament with a score of 558. Junior Isabella Garcia had the Blazers’ best round, carding a 126 to finish 65th. Juniors Sophia Macedo (71st, 134) and Scarlett Pawlowski (78th, 142), and sophomore Molly Pawlowski (81st, 156) completed Trinity’s lineup.
OPRF girls
At the West Suburban Conference tournament held at Village Greens of Woodridge, Sept. 24, the Huskies tied for sixth along with Lyons Township, totaling 351 strokes.
Three OPRF golfers earned All-WSC honors. Sophomore Nadia Vattana finished 10th with a round of 82, while sophomore Maeve Gibbs and senior Courtney Moore tied for 20th, each shooting an 88.
The Huskies’ other golfers at the meet were juniors Samantha Leung (33rd, 93), Lucy Wojtowicz (38th, 95), Chaya Shah Hempel (46th, 99), Faith Sizemore (48th, 100), and Maddie Zielinski (51st, 102). Like Fenwick, OPRF took part in the aforementioned St. Ignatius Regional.
OPRF boys
At Prairie Bluff in Crest Hill, Sept. 24, the Huskies tied for fifth alongside Downers Grove North with a score of 307 strokes, 21 behind champion Lyons Township.
Junior Karsten Davis merited All-WSC Silver honors as he tied for 13th with a round of 75. Junior Jackson Dodd and senior James Kelly tied for 22nd as each shot a 77.
Seniors Hugh Dwyer and Luke Roberts (t-28th, 78), junior Will Timchak (t-37th, 80), and seniors Griffin and Trevor Lane (t-42nd, 82) rounded out OPRF’s lineup.
The Huskies compete in the Class 3A Loyola Academy Regional at Glencoe Golf Club, Oct. 2.
Fenwick boys
Like OPRF, the Friars placed sixth in their conference meet, shooting a team total of 316 strokes at the Chicago Catholic League Championship, held at Cog Hill in Lemont, Sept. 22.
Senior John Cox and junior Alex Kulisek got All-CCL honors. Cox tied for eighth with a 75 while Kulisek tied for 15th with a 76.
Seniors Luke Sherlock (t-30th, 80) and Ryan Brennan (t-50th, 85), junior James Papp (t-54h, 86), and senior Michael McMahon (t-81st, 94) were Fenwick’s other golfers.
The Friars play in the Class 2A De La Salle Regional at White Pines, Oct. 2.
