Cynthia Belle, 71, died on Jan. 14, 2024 after a short illness. Born on July 22, 1952, she grew up in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago and earned a degree from Loyola University in Modern Language Education. She worked as an activities director at several Chicago-area nursing homes and for many years served as director of Training & Education at the Foster Avenue Methodist Home, specializing in Alzheimer’s treatment and management. For the last 15 years she worked at Zoller Swanson, a tax firm in Oak Park.

She was a member of several local organizations: P.E.O. Chapter I, Belles Lettres, and the 19th Century Charitable Association. A very active member of River Forest United Methodist Church, her involvement there led to other community-based volunteer activities; cooking and serving meals for Housing Forward; and organizing the church’s participation in the Oak Park Township Adopt-a-Family Holiday Program.

Cindy is survived by her two brothers, Vaughn Tucker (Joyce), Roger Belle, and many Tennessee relatives. Her friends at work, neighbors and church family greatly feel her loss also.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 11 a.m. at River Forest United Methodist Church, 7970 Lake St. in River Forest. A light lunch at the church will follow the service.

Memorials may be sent to Housing Forward, a local organization with a vision to end homelessness.
