Barbara A. Lundt (nee Stanners), 88, formerly of Oak Park, River Forest, and Princeton, Illinois died peacefully on Jan. 31. She grew up in Oak Park and after graduating from Oak Park and River Forest High School in 1952, she went on to major in Art at MacMurray College. She remained an active alumna and participated in many reunion committees at OPRF. She was particularly proud of her participation as a reunion committee member for the class of 1952’s Silver Anniversary Reunion in 1977.

She worked in the health-care industry for most of her professional life. She was a valued employee of the now defunct Community Nursing Service of Oak Park, River Forest, and Michael Reese’s health-care systems. In retirement, she and her husband moved to Princeton, Illinois, but she kept busy. She and Gerald were active members of the Bureau Valley Country Club, where they enjoyed lounging with their many friends, and actively volunteered for the Princeton Friends of the Library.

She and Gerald, her husband of over 50 years, were active in many charities in the Oak Park and River Forest area, including Infant Welfare Circle 1, where she was honored to serve her community and the organization. She used her artistic talents to help design Circle 1’s fundraiser cookbooks and various programs for their events. They were also active members of Euclid Avenue Methodist Church in Oak Park and River Forest Presbyterian Church for many years.

Barbara was the wife of the late Gerald; the mother of Eric, Christopher, and Craig; mother-in-law and grandmother of six. She was the daughter of the late Glen and Florence (née Hogarth) Stanners and the twin sister of her brother, the late Bill.

A visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 9 at 9 a.m., with a short service at 10 a.m. at Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home, 7319 Madison St., Forest Park. A private family burial will take place at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Oak Park-River Forest Infant Welfare Society are appreciated.

Arrangements were handled by Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home, Kevin Harnett, director.
