As a longtime resident of the area, I’m calling on Springfield and my state senator, Don Harmon to commit to passing the Clean Energy Jobs Act this January in the lame-duck session.

The coronavirus has damaged and is still damaging our local economy. In Oak Park, suburban Cook County, and the rest of Illinois, thousands are still unemployed and businesses are struggling.

We’re standing at a turning point in our community. We can call on Illinois to help us recover from the pandemic with well-paying jobs to help bring a clean energy future to Illinois. We don’t have to wait for Washington to act. The Clean Energy Jobs Act will help us modernize our dirty electric grid, help bring clean transportation options to our community, and provide well-paying jobs along the way. It will bring more than $30 billion in private investment to our state.

Senator Harmon, as president of the Senate, will you make clean energy a reality in our community?
