John Leo Vincent Quane, 68, of Oak Park, died on Sept. 22, 2020. Born on Feb. 15, 1952 and raised on the West Side of Chicago, he attended St. Angela Grammar School and St. Patrick High School, where he was on the wrestling team for four years. A graduate of Northern Illinois University, he received a master’s degree from the University of Chicago. His life was filled with family, service to community, and a love of art, sports, and music. He loved coaching his daughter’s softball teams. He cared for and connected with all of their friends. He was a hero to his daughters.
John worked as a classroom teacher and administrator for Chicago Public Schools for 35 years. He loved his work teaching and learning with children and was a passionate advocate for justice and equity in the public school system. In his retirement, he loved to travel and was a prolific photographer. He captured the beauty of the world and its people, and it gave him joy to share his images with others. We are so grateful for the way you spread love through our lives, John. We will never forget you and we are stronger for having you.
