Joseph M. Krickl, 68, died of complications from the COVID-19 virus on July 19, 2020. A quiet person who faced many challenges from a young age, Joe found joy in his yearly trips to the Seguin Farm, horseback riding, and walking the beaches in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He loved art, especially painting and ceramics, and listening to the music of Bizet, Mitch Miller and The Beatles. But most of all, he loved being with his family. His beautiful smile will be missed by those who knew and loved this kind and gentle soul.
His family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Amita-St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago and Rainbow Hospice for their care and compassion. In addition, we thank the many friends, caregivers and staff who treated him with dignity and respect throughout the years.
Joe was the beloved son of Joseph L. Krickl Jr. and the late Catherine A. (McGarr) Krickl, the brother of Catherine “Katie” (Drew) Rutz, the late David (Celeste), Paul (Donna), Raymond (Nancy), Thomas (Amy), John (Nancy) and Mary (Timothy) Flanagan. Befitting our large Catholic family, Joe was the nephew, cousin and uncle of many.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UCP Seguin of Greater Chicago, or Seguin RCA located in Stickney, to assist with their longstanding support of individuals with developmental disabilities.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 11 a.m. at Ascension Catholic Church, 808 S. East Ave., Oak Park. Interment will be private.
