John E. McCarthy, 72, of River Forest, died on Dec. 24, 2019.
He was born on Jan. 16, 1947 and grew up in River Forest, where he attended St. Luke Elementary School.
He was a graduate of Fenwick High School in Oak Park and received his bachelor’s degree from St Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana. John worked for the U.S. Department of Treasury as a bank examiner then went on to work as an executive with Schamut and Fleet banks and retired from Bank of America.
Son of the late Mary Virginia and Jack McCarthy, loving brother of the late William (Lori) McCarthy and the late Richard McCarthy. Fond Uncle of Jack McCarthy, Kitty (Bob) Monty, Molly (Zac) Eitel. Loving great Uncle to Danny, Allison, AJ, Sam and Lilah.
Memorial Mass 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at Ascension Catholic Church 815 S. East Ave., Oak Park. Private interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home, Forest Park, handled arrangements.
