After five years of service to the Oak Park and River Forest business communities, Cathy Yen is resigning as executive director of the Oak Park River Forest Chamber of Commerce, according to a press release issued by the chamber Friday afternoon.

Yen has accepted a position as director of operations for Beat the Streets, a Chicago nonprofit focused on developing youth through mentoring and sports activities. She begins her new job in early October.

“We are grateful for the five years of outstanding service she has provided in leading the organization to unprecedented levels of prominence and professionalism and thrilled for her and the opportunity she is pursuing,” a press release sent to Wednesday Journal by  Chamber of Commerce board President Robert Stelletello stated. “Our enthusiasm is tempered with sadness that we will not be able to continue our work together to promote and support the success and development of our members in the local business community.”

According to the press release, an announcement concerning the Chamber of Commerce’s new executive director will be made shortly.
