A Chicago man was arrested on May 25 after allegedly posing as a minor through an online dating app and meeting an Oak Park girl for sex.

Alexander Kusner, 29, of the 1300 block of North Greenview in Chicago, was arrested at his home on May 25 at 6:34 a.m. and charged with two counts of child pornography, aggravated criminal sexual abuse and unlawful possession of cannabis, according to Oak Park police.

Oak Park Police Commander LaDon Reynolds said in a telephone interview that between Jan. 1 and April 12, 2016, Kusner began communicating with the minor through the dating app.

Reynolds said Kusner identified himself as a minor on his online dating profile. The victim also identified herself as a minor.

They eventually met in Chicago and engaged in sexual contact, Reynolds said. Video and photo images were taken at the time of the encounter and transmitted to the victim, Reynolds said.

The victim’s parents became aware of the images and contacted Oak Park police, Reynolds said.

“Due to cooperation from the parents, we initiated an investigation,” said Reynolds, adding that Kusner was processed in Oak Park and sent to Cook County for a bond hearing at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 26.

He said the investigation was conducted in collaboration with the Cook County State’s Attorney and the FBI’s Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory.
