Oak Park emergency vehicles surrounded Oak Park Arms senior living facility Wednesday in response to an apparent suicide.

Moses Williams, executive director of Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave., said in a telephone interview that a man appears to have jumped from the window of his unit, which unnamed sources say was on the fifth floor.

Williams said the facility “knows very little” about the 72-year-old man, because he had just moved into the facility on Saturday. He declined to release the man’s name.

The Oak Park Police Department could not immediately be reached for comment.

The apparent suicide occurred sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m., Williams said.

He said the facility is providing counselors and religious services for residents who might be affected by the man’s death.
