Propelled by their first-place finish at the Clash VIII Wrestling Duals in early January, the Oak Park and River Forest High School wrestling team has earned the No. 1 ranking in the country, according to flowrestling.org

The Huskies continued their remarkable run with victories over perennial state contenders Marmion and Montini at the Marmion triangular over the weekend. OPRF cruised past both the host Cadets 49-14 and Montini 36-17. According to illinoismatmen.com rankings, OPRF is No. 1 in Class 3A, while Montini is the top-ranked team in 2A and Marmion is No. 4 in 3A. The website also lists OPRF wrestlers Jason Renteria (113 pounds), Alex Madrigal (120), Larry Early (145), Isaiah White (152), Matthew Rundell (160) and Kamal Bey (170) as the top-ranked wrestler in their respective weight class.

OPRF (19-0, 4-0 West Suburban Silver) also routed visiting Glenbard West 63-3 in a dual match on Jan. 8. The Huskies and Hilltoppers entered their meeting as conference unbeatens, but OPRF dominated the action by winning 13 of 14 varsity bouts.
