Iman Shumpert picked a good week to return to a kids’ game and his true home court — at Oak Park and River Forest High School.

While the business side of basketball consumed his New York Knicks and star teammate Carmelo Anthony last week, Shumpert was dispensing advice and high-fives to dozens of kids at his third-annual basketball camp.

In the comfort of former teammates, coaches, and family who stopped by to watch, Shumpert was a light spirit moving from gym to gym and group to group. Even a small scrum of reporters curious about his own trade rumors couldn’t shake the easy smile from his face.

“It seems like I have been getting traded for about a year and a half now,” Shumpert joked. “I can’t control rumors so we’ll see what happens. I’m preparing myself for a good season no matter what jersey I’ll be wearing. Hopefully, it’s the same jersey I was drafted to wear, but I’ll make the best of whatever situation I’m in.”
