Trinity senior Mikayla Leyden recently accepted a scholarship offer from St. Xavier University, according to Blazers head coach Ed Stritzel.

Leyden, a 5-foot-8 guard/forward, has endured an injury-wracked high school career. Just five games into her freshman season, she tore her ACL and missed the remainder of the season. She tore her other ACL early in her sophomore season and was out as well. During her junior season, Leyden helped the Blazers to a 30-2 overall record, but three games into this season she tore a meniscus that will keep her out the remainder of her final high school season.

“Mikayla’s potential is unlimited and that is what many colleges saw in her short time on the court with Trinity, said Stritzel. “As her coach, I’m deeply saddened that I didn’t get to coach her that much, but I’m so proud of her for the scholarship she has earned.”
