Logan Giulietti-Schmitt, of Oak Park, and skating partner Lynn Kriengkrairut won bronze at the U.S. International Figure Skating Classic recently held in Salt Lake City.
Giulietti-Schmitt, 27, represents the Ann Arbor Figure Skating Club. The team trains in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The duo finished second in the short dance and achieved six Level 4 elements, the highest level earned in figure skating, in their free dance. The program, performed to a medley of “Turning Tables” and “Rumor Has It” by Adele, also featured a Level 4 straight-line lift that had Giullietti-Schmitt in a spread eagle position, lifting Kriengkrairut vertical to the ice by one ankle. The pair earned 84.37 points for their free dance, which amounted to 140.86 points and the bronze medal overall.
Kriengkrairut and Giulietti-Schmitt are the reigning U.S. pewter medalists and will compete in October at 2012 Hilton Honors Skate America in Seattle/Kent, Wash. as part of the 2012 International Skating Union Grand Prix of Figure Skating series.
