Our area prides itself on diversity and this weekend’s entertainment has something for everyone. Dominican University in River Forest offers two musical events which couldn’t be more different! On Saturday, October 15 at 7:30pm, world-reknowed recording artist and award-winner, Mary Chapin Carpenter performs in her “rock-the-house style”.  Take a look at the attached video to get a taste of what to expect.  Then on Sunday, October 16 at 4pm, our own Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest  performs Richard Strauss and Mozart with a pre-concert conversation at 3pm.  Performances at 7900 W. Division and tickets and more information at 708-488-5000 or www.dom.edu/pac .

There are also three wonderful “get ready for Halloween” events this weekend.  On Saturday, October 15 running from 11am – 3pm, its “Green Halloween”, an eek-o-friendly, as the people at Downtown Oak Park describe it, healthy, green event!  Costumes are optional and suggested ages of 3 -8 will probably have the most fun with a “Green Pumpkin Trail” beginning at 924 Lake, Grace Episcopal, and moving down along Lake and Marion Streets.  Details are found at www.downtownoakpark.net .  More family-friendly fun will be found on Sunday, October 16 from 10am – 2pm at the Oak Park Conservatory with a “Family Fall Fest”.  The event includes haystacks, pumpkin patches, and entertainment.  Info at www.oakparkparks.com . Both of these events are Free.  Now for the scary stuff – it’s the 20th Annual Tale of the Tombstones Cemetery Walk on Sunday, October 16 from 1 – 2pm (rain date is October 23). Event is at Forest Home Cemetery, 836 Des Plaines in Forest Park.  Keep in mind that tours start every ten minutes between 1 – 2pm and the tour time is approximately two hours.  For tickets and details, visit www.oprfhistory.org .
