In your article, D200 board weighs in on Student Center [News, Sept. 21], District 200 board President, Dietra Millard said she doesn’t mind the limited access to the “Student Center,” citing two examples. She was knocked down by a running student and she had to climb over another lying across the stairs.

How about I draw an analogy most Oak Parkers, even without children, can relate to?

You are going to shop in Downtown Oak Park. As you are pulling into one of the “many” pay lots available, you are almost hit by another car leaving the lot which failed to stop at the stop sign. Then you notice a person parking, but not paying, the meter and another car which is parked at an angle taking up two spaces. So you decide the best thing to do is close the parking lots! Don’t enforce the rules on the very small percentage who ignore them, but instead take away the availability from all.

Sounds downright short-sighted and ignorant. I will remember Dietra Millard’s name when elections come around.
