Leonard J. Houha, 81, of Broadview, formerly of Oak Park, died on July 27, 2011. He served as a cartographer in the U.S. Army. A 1953 graduate of DePaul University College of Law, he was a practicing attorney in Oak Park for over 50 years. He was active in village government, serving on the Oak Park Plan Commision and the board for Family Services and Mental Health Center of OP-RF. He was also past president of the Irving Elementary School PTO, where his children and three of his grandchildren, attended.

In his early years he enjoyed amateur car racing and golf. In his later years, he enjoyed fishing trips to Ely, Minn., with his close friends. His lifelong association with the Boy Scouts of America included his membership in the Order of the Arrow. His two grandsons continue in his footsteps. He was a member of Delta Theta Phi fraternity and the Bohemian Lawyers Association.

Len Houha was the father of Juliet (Kevin) Stantz , Allison (Patrick) Olson, Leonard (Loreen), Andrew (Cheri), and the late Elizabeth; the grandfather of Matthew, Clare, Daniel, Steven, Elaine, Bradley, Lindsey, Leonard, Nathan, and David; the former husband and friend of Barbara Olsen Houha; the brother of Jeanne Houha Berg and Carol Murray; and the companion of Patricia Churlin.

Visitation was held Aug. 2 at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated today at Divine Infant Church, 1601 Newcastle, Westchester, at 10 a.m., followed by private interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
