From late June to early July, Yohana Ansari-Thomas, a 14-year-old Oak Parker entering Oak Park River Forest High School this fall, took part in rehearsing and filming choreography DVDs for Music Theatre International’s Broadway Junior Collection ®.
Thomas attended the 2011 Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, with Brooks Middle School and was selected as one of 400 prospects for the project. He was then selected as one of 68 for final call-backs and ultimately, named one of 25 students for the cast taping.
Thomas will be included in the choreography DVD in Music Theatre International’s ShowKit, provided to schools who license musicals from the organization. The group filmed DVDs for MTI’s soon-to-be released titles including “Doctor Dolittle JR.”, “Finian’s Rainbow JR.”, Disney’s “Winnie the Pooh KIDS” and Disney’s “The Little Mermaid JR.
