Bead in Hand, a fixture in the Oak Park Arts District for nearly 20 years, is up for sale, with the owner having shipped off to California.
Doris Weinbaum opened the little craft store at 145 Harrison back in 1993, and has been running it “from afar” for the past few years since she moved west. But she’s decided it’s time to hand the reins over to someone else, according to a press release sent out last week.
There is no timetable for the sale, and Weinbaum plans to keep stocking Bead in Hand while she looks for a new proprietor. She said the business has remained profitable for the past 18 years, and thinks it will “thrive” with the energy of a new owner.
