The OPRF girls basketball team went 2-3 at the Marist Thanksgiving Tournament last week. The Huskies (2-5 overall) defeated TF North 50-42 and Stagg 60-45, but fell to Marist, 56-42, Homewood Flossmoor, 53-50, and St. Ignatius, 50-42.
Stekara Hall led OPRF against T.F. North, scoring a game-high 26 points. Both Hall and Shelby Cozette scored 17 apiece in the victory over Stagg. Raven Hurley added 10 in that win. Both Hall and Cozette were named to the All-Tournament Team.
“Realistically, we’re about where we thought we might be but not totally where we’d like to be,” said OPRF head coach Bob Biggins, whose team started the season with losses to powerhouses Trinity and Fenwick. “We certainly would like another victory or two at this point but feel we’re taking steps in the direction. We look forward to getting into our conference schedule now and hope to build some momentum towards our Christmas trip to Montini.”
The Huskies opened West Suburban (Silver) Conference play this week. They travel to Glenbard West on Saturday (7:30 p.m.).
