Students and parents in District 97 will not see an increase in the price for breakfast and lunch next year and, in fact, will pay less for both meals for the remainder of this school year.

Since 2007, Oak Park and River Forest High School has provided lunch and breakfast for the Oak Park elementary school district, part of an intergovernmental agreement between the two districts. That agreement is up in 2011.

A provision in the agreement calls for an 11 cent decrease per meal price once District 97 served a little over one million meals. The mark was hit last month, resulting in a decrease to $1.49 for the remainder of this school year for K-5 students, and a decrease to $1.67 for sixth through eighth-graders for the same period.

Beginning next fall, prices will return to $1.60 per meal for K-5 and $1.78 for 6-8 students.
