Phil Rosenthal’s media column in the Chicago Tribune last week reported that Oak Park resident Cisco Cotto, who in mid-January joined Roe Conn as a co-host in the afternoon on WLS-AM 890, is replacing Erich “Mancow” Muller in the 9-11 a.m. slot between Don and Roma Wade’s morning show and Rush Limbaugh’s midday mania.
Wednesday Journal profiled Cotto on Jan. 13.
Muller, a notorious “shock jock,” apparently didn’t fit the expectations of the parent company of WLS, Citadel Broadcasting Corporation, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December. Rosenthal quoted station head Michael Damsky as saying they wanted “to have more of a feel of a radio station, rather than just a collection of really good programs.” How diplomatic.
So Cotto, 34, who was enjoying sleeping in each morning, will now return to his previous schedule as an early riser.
