John E. Howell, face the facts. [Are students marching for the right reason? Viewpoints, Nov. 24] Global climate change is a real and severe problem that our world is facing. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (a scientific body of the world’s top climate scientists), NASA, the World Meteorological Organization, and the vast majority of credible scientists and scientific organizations agree that global climate change is a severe issue facing mankind.

I would be interested to know where you get your information from. However, what interests me to a greater extent is why you even care to antagonize an issue that your generation will not even have to deal with. I am 17 years old. Global climate change is my generation’s problem, and I find it quite insulting that you would take so little regard for my generation’s future and the futures of children yet to be born. If we as a generation believe that global warming threatens us, and as such we participate in activism, I see no way in which this hurts you.

So why don’t you just let us try to fix the problem and keep your uninformed opinions out of it?
