Vivaldi Restaurant will come under new ownership on Friday and will eventually become a steak and chop house “with a Mediterranean flair,” one of the new owners said Tuesday.
Brookfield restaurateurs Michael Jenkins and Timothy Kuck were expected to be approved for a new liquor license Tuesday night by the Oak Park village board. The restaurant, 144 S. Oak Park Ave., will continue to be operated with the Vivaldi menu for 60 days.
After Labor Day, it will become Slaton’s Supper Club, Kuck said. “There’s a whole story” behind the new name, but Kuck said details won’t be released until after the name change in September.
Jenkins and Kuck negotiated a 20-year lease for the space, which will hold 20 tables. Kuck said they intend to stay in the space “a long period of time,” making unlikely the possibility of the building being added to a planned development for four buildings at and near the corner of Oak Park Avenue and South Boulevard.
The restaurant will be open seven days a week.
Vivaldi owner Anan Abu-Taleb declined to comment. Vivaldi operated in the village for eight years.
Jenkins and Kuck own a catering business that supplies meals to the Oak Park Arms and a restaurant in Brookfield, according to a village report.
