The hiring firm assisting with the search for a new executive director of the Park District of Oak Park is winnowing its list of candidates so the park board can appoint someone by the end of the month.
At Thursday’s park board meeting, President Marty Bracco said Voorhees Associates got about 90 applications from 17 states and the firm is in the process of interviewing candidates. The park district’s current executive director, Gary Balling, is retiring at the end of April.
Bracco said park board commissioners will discuss the initial group of candidates selected for review during a March 8 executive session.
