As President Obama prepared to sign a $787 billion economic stimulus bill into law, Tuesday, Oak Park was still sorting out how much of the pot it might be able to tap. The bill includes funds in several categories, including arts & tourism and crime prevention & public safety, said Village President David Pope.
West Sub CEO’s letter raises questions
As an Oak Park resident, I am concerned about a letter I saw published in both local papers from the CEO of West Suburban Medical Center targeting a labor union as having outdated information that they are presenting as an unfair and incomplete view of the hospital’s poor quality record. Ciancio admits guilt in towing extortion scheme

Five armed robberies since Monday
Web Extra!Two commuters were robbed in separate incidents while riding the CTA Blue Line to Oak Park on Wednesday night. The robberies were the latest in a total of six robberies since Monday morning, five of them armed.
No injuries in Oak Park house fire

The Whiteco building is ugly
Personally, I think the building is truly ugly. [The many faces of Whiteco, LifeLines, Jan. 28] It looks like something that would normally be torn down.
