Oak Park and River Forest High School 2014 graduate Declan Siefkas is performing his first major solo piano recital at Unity Temple on Friday, June 6, at 7 p.m.
Siefkas, son of Kirk Siefkas and Dr. Terrie Weir, has been playing the piano since he was 3-years-old.
In his years of playing, the recent grad has attended a number of summer institutes and has received awards including eleven national Guild auditions, first place at the Granquist Music Competition, Geneva, first place in the Chopin Society of Texas Sonata Youth Competition–which led to an opportunity to play at Carnegie Hall.
Siefkas will attend Colorado College in the fall. He plans to enter the pre-med track and minor in music.
