I don’t want to sound like a curmudgeon, but I need to complain about the school crossing guards. According to my belief, the guards are present for the very real safety needs of our children getting to and from school. However, many of them are assuming the role of traffic cops. They stop traffic so that adults without kids can cross, blithely ignoring the needs of drivers. Adults can cross by themselves. Also, the guards often exercise poor judgment in rainy or snowy weather, and step right into traffic with their Stop sign raised like a shield, and dare me to run into them on slippery pavement.

Don’t they realize the danger they are subjecting themselves to?

Does anyone else feel the same way?
