One of the benefits of living in Oak Park is the active participation of many residents in activities that benefit the community. There are many Oak Parkers who work to improve our lives and provide new opportunities.
Look closely and you will see that many of those who contribute to our community are retirees, and others of a certain age, who volunteer (Notice I didn’t say seniors, old people or elderly people).
We have many years of wisdom and relevant experience to bring to this work, and we love Oak Park. Maybe some of us move a little slower or have a few wrinkles, but we show up and do what needs to be done. And we try to have a little fun doing it.
As you go about your life in Oak Park, look around and see the people who volunteer. We may be a little older than you are, but we are worth getting to know. We can enrich your lives with stories you couldn’t imagine: people we’ve met, places we’ve been, history we’ve lived. We are intelligent, experienced, service-oriented and fun. And we love to make new friends.
So don’t give in to age-ism. See us. Interact with us. Enjoy us.
Give us the opportunity to enjoy you!
