As an Oak Park resident entered his residence on the 1100 block of Lake Street May 13, a man demanded money from him, police reports show. The resident obliged, but the man then started hitting the resident who ran into his apartment. The man followed him, saying he had a weapon, and continued to hit the victim. The man then ransacked the resident’s apartment, stealing a jar of coins and bottles of alcohol. He was last seen heading southbound toward the Green Line for the Chicago Transit Authority. The estimated loss is $186.

Reckless discharge of a firearm

A man, possibly driving a gray Ford F-150, was seen stopping in an alley and discharging an unknown firearm in the air. This incident occurred May 15 on the 1200 block of North Kenilworth Avenue. He was last seen heading southbound in the alley.

Criminal damage to property  

On May 19 at the Target at 1129 Lake Street, a man grabbed a bottle of soda and threw it across the store, shattering a store window. The man then fled in an unknown direction. The estimated damage is unknown.

Burglary to motor vehicle  

Someone broke into a Red Bull Distribution Company delivery work truck and stole 38 cases of Red Bull energy drinks May 15 on the 6100 block of North Avenue. The estimated loss is $2,166.

Arrests  

  • A 38-year-old Chicago man was arrested for domestic battery against an Oak Park resident May 13 on the 400 block of Madison Street.
  • A 58-year-old woman from Berwyn was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident and having on valid driver’s license or insurance May 13 on the 7500 block of Harrison Street in Forest Park. She also had an active Cook County warrant for retail theft.
  • A 33-year-old man from Berwyn was involved in an accident May 14 on the 1000 block of South Oak Park Avenue. He was arrested for aggravated driving while his license was revoked.
  • A 41-year-old man from Willowbrook was arrested for criminal trespass to the Jewel-Osco at 7036 Roosevelt Road May 14.
  • A 34-year-old man from Summit was arrested for leaving the scene of a property damage accident May 16 on the 1000 block of Madison Street.
  • A 40-year-old Chicago man was arrested for criminal trespass to West Suburban Medical Center May 16. He also had an active retail theft warrant from Chicago.
  • A 32-year-old Chicago man was arrested for a burglary that occurred May 17 at the 7-Eleven at 661 South Boulevard.
  • A 29-year-old Chicago man was arrested for aggravated battery to an Oak Park resident and residential burglary May 18 on the 300 block of North Kenilworth Avenue.

These items were obtained from Oak Park Police Department reports dated May 13 – 20 and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated. We report the race of a suspect only when a serious crime has been committed, the suspect is still at large, and police have provided us with a detailed physical description of the suspect as they seek the public’s help in making an arrest.
