Relative new-comer to the Oak Park restaurant scene, Taco Bros (2 Chicago Ave, Oak Park) opened quietly earlier this year, but word is spreading quickly about the high-quality tacos, tortas and burritos coming out of the casual, counter-service joint.
I popped by to snag a little lunch yesterday and a steady stream of customers were placing orders for Taco Bros’ reasonably priced dishes.
I settled on a torta asada, a Mexican sandwich, served on a fluffy bolillo roll and topped with everything from refried beans to avocado. The messy-to-eat, but oh-so-delicious sammy set me back just shy of six bucks.
I also picked up a duo of tacos for less than three dollars each and appreciated the choice to garnish them “American or Mexican style.” I ordered mine topped with cilantro and onion, but any taco can be topped with lettuce and tomato.
Swing by to welcome the small (but mighty) taqueria to the neighborhood and treat yourself to a super satisfying local lunch.
