Paul Porter, 75, of Oak Park, died suddenly on March 26, 2019 while recuperating from West Nile Virus. A former Chicagoan, he attended St. Margaret Mary, St. George and DeVry Institute. He worked as a shipping and receiving director for various companies and as a sports team photographer.
For six years he owned and operated Oak Park Express in Hunter Court near Gepetto’s. It offered one-hour photo developing and other services. He loved reading, history, travel, music, and acting. A highlight was starring in shows at Theater on the Lake. He met his wife, Joyce, when they were cast as husband and wife in a play at Lincoln Park Theater. The Tribune once wrote about it in their Love Stories series.
Mr. Porter dealt with many health problems over the last 20 years, including Parkinson’s, but he really enjoyed sitting on his porch on Mapleton, attending concerts and being with family. A highlight was his son’s wedding last year.
Paul Porter is survived by his wife, Joyce (Klowden); his son, David (Beverly Agdern); his brothers-in-law, Arthur (Judy) and Michael (Pat) Klowden; and his many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marguerite and Paul C. Porter; and his sisters, Connie Hall and Barbara Porter.
