After more than two decades in Forest Park, Healy’s Westside is available for lease, according to a video @properties real estate agency uploaded to YouTube on Aug. 31. The Irish pub joins neighboring restaurant Cocina de los Lobos on the market. The Mexican eatery closed and merged menus with the Irish bar in August.

The video, titled “Outstanding commercial space in the heart of downtown Forest Park,” pictures the interiors of Healy’s and the now-shuttered Cocina de los Lobos restaurant, as well as the kitchen.
In a newsletter, realtor Dan Stratis, who is marketing the property, describes 7321 Madison St. as “currently being used as a bar/restaurant that includes a full kitchen but permitted uses also include any retail, office or medical uses.”
A listing on the Loopnet real estate site advertises “flexible space options,” between 2,500 and 7,300 square feet.
Terry Healy, owner of the restaurant/pub declined comment on the future use of the space.
He and his brother Dick Healy opened the bar in Forest Park in 1995, inspired by a similar Irish pub opened by their father Mike Healy on Chicago’s West Side in 1954. Mike Healy left his native Ireland in 1922 to start a new life in America.
With the help of manager Mark Hosty, the brothers moved Healy’s Westside to its current location at the intersection of Circle Avenue and Madison Street in 2003. That same year, the trio opened Cocina de los Lobos next door. Hosty, a River Forest resident and former Forest Park village commissioner, bought the building that houses Healy’s and the now-shuttered Cocina for $170,000 in July 2006, according to Cook County property records.
Healy’s Westside advertises that it holds the largest craft beer selection in town. It is known for its Irish dancers, Friday fish frys and charitable events, including its annual pig roast to benefit Misericordia.
