River Forest Village President Cathy Adduci was elected vice president of the Illinois Municipal League on Sept. 22, one of 36 officers elected to the post. Adduci will serve for a year on the board of directors of the statewide organization, which advocates local issues for the approximately 1,200 municipalities across Illinois.
“Through my interaction with mayors from across the state, I will be able to assist in solving some of the very real issues our community and state face,” Adduci said in a statement. “I am excited to exchange ideas and share solutions as we advocate for local government at the state and federal level.”
Adduci is currently serving her second term as village president. She also served as a village trustee from 2009 to 2013 and as village clerk from 2007 to 2009. With the Illinois Municipal League Board of Directors, she has served on the Executive and Legislative committees.
In 2014, she received the Mayor of the Year Award from the Illinois Crime Commission for making a difference in the village of River Forest.
