Oak Park police are investigating a likely gang-related shooting that took place early Tuesday morning near Harrison Street and Austin Boulevard.
According to an Oak Park Police Department press release, an 18-year-old Chicago man was shot at a Shell gas station at 520 S. Austin Blvd. around 5:10 a.m. on Jan. 12.
By the time police were called, the man, who sustained a gunshot wound to his upper thigh, already had been driven to West Suburban Hospital by his companions.
Police believe the shooting to be gang-related because the victim and his companions have been uncooperative with their investigation.
Witnesses to the shooting reported hearing as many as four gunshots from the gas station, police said.
The gunshots are believed to have come from a small or mid-sized white or gray vehicle last seen exiting onto Austin Boulevard.
Police are reviewing video surveillance from the area. Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call the Oak Park police at 708-386-3800.
