Two women robbed mid-day in Oak Park
A woman was robbed and knocked to the ground on the 100 block of South Kenilworth, Dec. 17 around 4 p.m. The woman was approached from behind, knocked down and then the offender stole her black purse, which contained miscellaneous cards, a coin purse, identification cards, cosmetics, and a white envelope containing cash. Her attacker wore a dark hoodie, dark grey jeans, and dark shoes. He was last seen on foot headed westbound on Pleasant Street. The loss was an estimated $125.
A woman was robbed in the 700 block of North Harvey on Dec. 17 about 12:45 p.m. The offender approached the victim from behind, put his hand on her temple and said, “Give me your purse and wallet.” He then stole her black and gold Michael Kors purse, containing a pink Vera Wang wallet, miscellaneous credit cards, cash, and a white Samsung Galaxy S4 cellular phone in a pink case. The offender is described by police as between the ages of 18 and 25, standing between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-2, weighing between 160 and 175 pounds and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
A black iPhone S4 was stolen from the pharmacy counter of the CVS at 345 Madison St. on Nov. 16, sometime between 6 and 10 p.m. The loss was an estimated $400.
Burglary to motor vehicle
Two vehicles were burglarized in the 800 block of North Elmwood, sometime between 10 p.m. on Dec. 19 and 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 20. The offender entered a 2007 Nissan through an unlocked door and stole cash and four pairs of sunglasses. The intruder also entered a blue Chrysler Town & Country through an unlocked door and removed two pairs of sunglasses. The total loss was estimated at $50.
Criminal damage to property
Offenders threw a rock at St. Edmund School, 200 S. Oak Park Ave., on Dec. 20 around 11 a.m. The loss due to damage was an estimated $200.
A residence was burglarized in the 900 block of North Taylor on Dec. 20 around 3:20 p.m. The offender used force to open the rear door of the residence and then stole a 48-inch LG TV and a pocketbook containing gift cards, a driver’s license and credit cards. The loss was an estimated $820.
A residence was burglarized in the 700 block of South Clinton at 11:55 a.m. on Dec. 17, according to Oak Park police. The offender used brute force to gain entry to the residence through a rear door and then stole a 40-inch black Toshiba LD flat-screen television. The loss was an estimated $800.
A juvenile was observed by Oak Park Library security riding a black-and-white bicycle in front of the vestibule of the Main Library, 834 Lake St., on Dec. 16, between 6 and 6:30 p.m. Police report that the boy has already been asked once to stay off the property.
These items, obtained from the Oak Park and River Forest police departments, came from reports, Dec.14-20, and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated. We report the race of a suspect only when a serious crime has been committed, the suspect is still at large, and police have provided us with a detailed physical description of the suspect as they seek the public’s help in making an arrest.
