Daniel S. Gash Jr., 69, a longtime Oak Park resident, died on Sept. 18, 2015. Born in Chicago on June 4, 1946 to Daniel and Frances Gash, he was a St. Mel High School graduate, earned an accounting degree from Loyola University, and was drafted into the Army and served in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971. Over the years, he was employed with A&P, Stockyards Packing, the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Dept. of Labor, L&P Provisions and the Chicago Chili Company. He enjoyed woodworking, history, genealogy, car repair, cooking, watching sports with his children and also watching them play sports as children. He was a great “Feis” (dad) and loved watching his girls perform Irish Dance.
Daniel Gash is survived by his wife, Joanne M. (nee Ratza); his children, Sean (Sarah Albyn), Ryan (fiancée Nora Dowling), Caitlin (fiancé Anthony Angelini), and Molly Gash.
Visitation and a funeral service were held on Sept. 23 at Oak Park’s Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home with interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
