Christopher Ryan Lewis, 27, of Oak Park, died on Aug. 28, 2015 of natural causes while playing volleyball in Phoenix, Arizona. Born on Nov. 10, 1987 at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, the family moved to Oak Park in 1995. He attended Lincoln Elementary, Brooks Middle School, and graduated from OPRF High School in 2006, then went on to attend Arizona State University. He resided in Scottsdale, Arizona and was employed by Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.
An outstanding, all-round athlete, he played a multitude of sports with the Park District of Oak Park. He also participated in T-ball and baseball with Oak Park Youth Baseball and Softball. His real passion was volleyball. He was a team member of Brooks’ and OPRF’s volleyball teams as well as a club team member of Great Lakes Sports Performance in Aurora throughout high school. In Arizona he continued participating with various leagues until his untimely death.
Christopher Lewis is survived by his parents, Lori and Rodney Lewis; his siblings, Jennifer, Stephanie and Michael; his grandmothers, Beverly Luke and Lettie Lewis; his girlfriend, Autumn Stazsak; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends.
A tribute to his life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Oak Park’s Pilgrim Congregational Church, 480 Lake St.
