While other schools are choosing preferred electronic devices and either providing or demanding that parents provide uniform tablets or laptops, Trinity High School has gone another route with its “Bring Your Own Device” program this school year.

It allows students to bring the computing device they already have, tie in to Trinity’s network and get to work. The school said it did “extensive research” on the complex topic before it implemented BYOD.

Says Kathleen Maloney, an English teacher and senior moderator, “BYOD has provided teachers and students the opportunity to communicate and collaborate more effectively. Whether it is peer-editing on Google Drive or students working simultaneously on the same assignment, teachers and students can receive and give feedback almost instantly.”
