The Chase bank at 1048 Lake St. in downtown Oak Park was robbed Tuesday afternoon, confirmed Deputy Police Chief Tony Ambrose.
Few official details have been released about the robbery from Oak Park Police, but on Tuesday at around 1:45 p.m., the bank, located at the corner of Lake Street and north Marion Street, was surrounded by police cars.
Ambrose said no one was hurt in the robbery and did not know how much money, if any, was taken.
A sign on the door of the bank said the bank is temporarily closed “due to an emergency” on Tuesday afternoon.
Patrons were turned away at the door by police officers; one was told that she should not touch the door to the bank because police had not yet dusted for fingerprints.
Police spokesperson Cmdr. LaDon Reynolds could not immediately be reached for comment.
More details to come.Â
