Paper is pretty cool, right? When you think about it, even in this era of word processors, digital documents and online transactions, we still rely on paper to serve countless different purposes in our daily lives, often without even thinking about it. It’s in our wallets, on our bulletin boards, and winds up on our doorsteps to bring us the news. And of course, without paper, we wouldn’t be able to create and enjoy our favorite art, such as drawings, books, poems and more.

But did you know that paper is an art form all on its own? This August, Zenith Art Studio and the Oak Park Public Library will give community members the unique opportunity to learn about and participate in the art of papermaking. Join us at Maze Branch, 845 S. Gunderson Ave., on Wednesday, Aug. 6, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, for this family-oriented activity, where you’ll get a step-by-step run-down of the process of making paper from scratch. You’ll even get an opportunity for hands-on experience, taking individual fabrics and molding them into your very own hand-made paper!

If you’re eager to immerse yourself even further in the wonderful art of papermaking, or are just looking for new ways to satisfy your creative urges, Zenith Art Studio has something for you! Zenith Art Studio offers a wealth of knowledge and experience in a vast array of artistic disciplines, including quilt-making, bookbinding, visual journaling and much more! Programs range from drop-in lessons, to multi-week programs, to camps! People of all ages are welcome to come express their creativity, and collaborate with other artists in the community.

Register Now for Family Papermaking. Ages 8+. All materials provided. This workshop is weather permitting.
