The legendary Oak Park record store, Val’s halla celebrated its 40th anniversary last year.

The shop hit its share of struggles during that notable year, but thanks to the dedication of owner Val Camilletti and her loyal fan base, the store kept its doors open. It’s now celebrating its 41st birthday with the annual halla-Palooza at the shop, 239 Harrison in Oak Park, on Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28. The event kicks off Saturday at 11 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Highlights of the day include: store wide sales, live music by Jeff Elbel & Ping, The Beatleleles, Hope Rose, The Ben Schmidt-Swartz/Nelson Oliva Group, and Andy & Mark of Falling Stars. Concert tickets will also be raffled off. On Sunday from 11-5 p.m. the store will have several crates of records and CDs outside at five records for $1.
