As our hardworking (and ever-comedic) state legislature prepares to adjourn on the 31st of this month, we should be grateful, I suppose, that their ill-considered budget cuts have not visited even more affliction on the disabled citizens, senior citizens and low-income families and individuals of Illinois.
As they bask in the summer sunshine, let us hope they remember protective headgear. A brain is a terrible thing to bake and, one might say, the brains in question are half-baked already.
