Eugene J. Liss, 92, a one-year resident of the Oak Park Arms and a longtime resident of Oak Park, died on May 12, 2013 at Rush Oak Park Hospital. Born on Feb. 16, 1921 in LaSalle to Stanley and Frances Liss, he was a graduate of St. Hyacinth Parish School in LaSalle, St. Bede Academy High School in Peru, and attended Oglesby Junior College in LaSalle-Peru, receiving a degree in accounting in 1941.

He was employed with the Columbia Spring Air Mattress Co., retiring in 1987. An usher and volunteer for over 50 years at St. Edmund Church, he was the secretary of the Men’s Bowling League, loved reading, watching sports, and spending time with his family. He was an avid Cubs fan.

Eugene Liss is survived by his children, Eugene F., Mary and Holly; and his cherished grandchild, Elizabeth Considine. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Constance L. (nee Pusateri); and his siblings, Anna, Aloysius, Chester, Xavier, Raymond, Violet and Marion.

Visitation was held on May 19 at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated on May 20 at St. Edmund Church, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Animal Care League, 1013 W. Garfield, Oak Park, IL 60304 are appreciated.
